Frequently Asked Questions

What will we discuss in therapy?

In our work together, you are the expert of your own life and your own healing. Because of that, what we discuss in therapy is always shaped by what feels most meaningful, relevant, or pressing for you.

I offer a range of session structures—from fully structured, to semi-structured, to completely open and conversational. Some clients come in with clear overarching goals, and we use those goals as anchors to guide our sessions. Other times, being human means that life shows up unexpectedly: a memory from years ago might surface, or something that happened earlier that morning might feel like the most important thing to talk about. Both are welcome.

Our conversations will be collaborative and flexible. Together, we’ll create a personalized approach that allows us to focus on the key areas where you want support, while also leaving space for the natural flow of whatever arises. The intention is to meet you exactly where you are, each and every session.

What type of therapist are you ?

As a counsellor, I aim to create a space of equality, one where we show up as two human beings navigating life together. I don’t position myself as the expert on your life; instead, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, compassion, and genuine curiosity.

I show up as my authentic self, both inside and outside the therapy room. I value humour, comfort, and realness as powerful tools for building a strong therapeutic relationship. My role is to hold space for your story, honour your experiences, and support you through your process of self-discovery.

At the heart of my work is a deep passion for my clients’ well-being. I approach therapy with sincerity, warmth, and a commitment to creating a space where you feel seen, supported, and understood.

Do you bill to insurance ?

Clients are required to pay up front and manually submit receipts to their insurance company.

How often do I need to come in ?

How often you come to therapy really depends on your goals and what feels manageable for you. For clients who are doing ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) therapy, weekly sessions are recommended so there’s enough consistency to support the exposure work and build momentum.

At the same time, I recognize that life—financial realities, schedules, responsibilities—can make weekly sessions challenging. I don’t require a fixed or rigid schedule. Instead, I invite you to choose a frequency that feels realistic and supportive for your life.

It’s helpful to keep in mind that when sessions are spaced monthly or longer, we often spend more time catching up on everything that’s happened since we last met. That can slow down progress depending on your goals, but it may still make sense for some people.

Ultimately, the pace of therapy is your choice. My role is to help you find a rhythm that honours both your needs and your circumstances.
